Tariq Tarpal House

History

1966-1969: Founded in 1966 by Haji Abdul Bari Chaudhry, from having a family business of looms to weave cloth which got severely affected due to the INDO-PAK war of 1965, to setting up a business of tarpaulins which was basically a mobile business, Abdul Bari Chaudhry defied the norms and took it up as a challenge. He used to walk from Gujranwala to nearby cities of Wazirabad and Gakhar to take orders and fulfill them and he even used to fix the Tarpaulins all by himself. Such was his routine that he used to offer Fajr prayers at his home in Gujranwala and then he would start his journey, offering Zuhr and Asar prayers in different cities. This tough routine never made him think to quit in fact, it increased his strength. At first he named his business Shaheen Tarpal House, after some time changed it to Chaudhry Tarpal House and finally in 1969 after the birth of his eldest son Tariq Bari, the business was finally named as Tariq Tarpal House which was about to become a pioneer and eventually a leader in the market segment of Tarpaulins (Tarpal). Tariq Tarpal House was initially a shop on rent, on main GT road opposite General Bus Stand (Laari Adda) where orders were taken and tarpaulins manufactured in the workshop area. 1970-1990: These were the growing years for Tariq Tarpal House where large scale orders from Pakistan Army were placed. Military forces needed tents and covers for their heavy machinery and artillery equipment and who was better to serve them other than Tariq Tarpal House. Bulky orders began to receive and hence workforce also had to increase accordingly. These orders not only benefitted financially but also proved to be a gateway for a new and untapped market segment of tarpaulins in Pakistan to become popular only due to Tariq Tarpal House. Now industrialists and businesses associated with the agriculture sector began to know Tariq Tarpal House, as reputable institutes started to assign tasks. This proved to be a milestone and was going to provide wide scale benefits with clientele expansion. Gujranwala is an industrial hub of Pakistan and industries need an efficient and effective mechanism of temperature control and protection, at that time tarpaulins provided the solution for this problem. They were installed outside in open spaces which allowed workers to work in the summers. This had a very positive impact on the industrial workers. Large sized tarpaulins began to be manufactured specially for the agricultural sector as fields and crops had to be covered in order to protect them from scorching heat of the sun and heavy rains. Livestock and poultry segments were relatively new in Pakistan at that time and they needed shades to control temperature, hence Tariq Tarpal House was the only option for them in Gujranwala and nearby cities to manufacture huge sized tarpaulins which were to be fixed as sheds in order to provide protection. 1990-2000: Idea of a folding tarpaulin (Retractable Tarpaulin) was introduced by Tariq Tarpal House. At first this folding mechanism was manual with a rod and lever which was manually operated by hand and the tarpaulin was adjusted according to desired position. This new and innovative idea was applauded by both households and commercial segments of the market. People began to order for their folding tarpaulins which were to be installed over the windows and in open areas. These tarpaulins allowed people to both enjoy the weather as they can be retracted back and block sunlight in summer days as they can be retracted forward. Later on this manual mechanism was also replaced by a motorized system. In which the tarpaulin can be retracted over a motor. This was something very new and innovative for the Pakistani market. 2000-2010: This was a very important period for Tariq Tarpal House, as a shop was purchased and it was renovated purpose fully. Along with the main shop, another secondary shop was also purchased which was designated as a workshop. Over here, folding tarpaulins are made with tasks such as panting, welding and fixing of metallic rods. This work is carried out by skilled workforce only, and it ensured quality of the folding tarpaulin. In 2005, the deadly earthquake shook the northern areas of Pakistan. This was an opportunity for Tariq Tarpal House to carry out as much welfare works as they could to help the stranded brothers and sisters. Shelter tents were made in bulk and they were sent to the earth quake stricken areas free of cost. Tariq Tarpal House stood by the Pakistan Army in welfare works which were carried out as this was a moment of unity and brotherhood for all the Pakistanis and specially the business community. This was a boom period of Tariq Tarpal House as high annual revenue generation was seen. Clientele was increasing day by day and new segments being explored. 2010-2020: Breakthrough in the e commerce market in Pakistan was seen as new opportunity by many. Tariq Tarpal House also welcomed this new market mechanism which was about to increase the buyers no matter in Pakistan or overseas. A website was set up which takes orders and customers are able to view various images and videos of all the products which Tariq Tarpal House offers. International orders are also taken and tarpaulins are shipped outside of Pakistan as well. This proved to be another milestone in the history of Tariq Tarpal House as international audience began to acknowledge it as a brand. Other businesses involved in interior décor also began to assign Tariq Tarpal House their projects due to the high quality standards being a norm over here.
